    The origin of Pastas Alimenticias Romero S.A. dates back to 1926, when Don Manuel Romero Marqués founded the company. It was just a small workshop where a modest daily production was obtained using traditional methods.

    In 1930 a new and larger factory was built which incorporated the technological advances of the time. After many years of struggle, the company grew larger and stronger.

    In 1970, with the second generation of the family on board and running the company that was set up by their father, the first warehouse, which is part of today's premises, was built. This was done in anticipation of the deep change that awaited this sector.

    The technological advances applied to the manufacture of pasta for cooking produced drastic changes at all levels. The production lines using a static drying process were replaced by production lines with continuous drying. Later on, the production lines with high-temperature drying together with the complete automatisation of production and the huge increase in production capacity obtained in the production lines brought about a true revolution in the world of pasta. Romero was in fact the first factory in Spain to install a production line for long pasta and prepares for the future by favouring growth in a sensible, yet steady and unreserved way.

    In 1970 production capacity was 25.000 kilos (55.000 pounds) per day, compared to 80.000 kilos per day (176.000 pounds) in 1984 and, thanks to our last investments, the factory has reached a production capacity of 225.000 kilos per day.

    Under the management of the third generation of the Romero family, the company has been growing quickly and steadily for the last two decades. During the 90's, an important part of our production begins to be exported regularly and a Quality and R+D department is set up. As a result, new markets have been opened and new products have invariably appeared. It now exports our products to over thirty countries in different continents and takes part in the most important food trade fairs in the world. The factory has available some of the most modern and versatile premises in the business, which allows a high degree of automatisation in a combination of tradition, experience and state-of-the-art technology. Today, this trademark is recognised as one of the leading manufacturers of pasta in Spain.
