The
raw material we use for the elaboration of our products is 100% durum
wheat semolina, a necessary requirement to be able to call a product
"high-quality", according to food and health regulations in Spain.
This ingredient is recognised all over the world as the most suitable
to obtain high quality pasta, as it is optimal for cooking "al dente"
and shows great texture once cooked. In Romero, semolina comes mainly
from selected Aragonese durum wheat, which is greatly appreciated. Due
to its exceptional conditions, Aragón is a privileged region for the
cultivation of durum wheat.
The semolina we use is obtained through a grinding process which is
also done in Aragón and subsequently the different types of semolina
are selected according to the characteristics desired for each product.

The rest of the ingredients we use to make our special products
(mainly pasteurised egg, spinach and tomato) are all first quality
and completely natural products. No additives, artificial colours
or artificial ingredients are used. Thanks to the high temperatures
used in the process of manufacture and to the low water content
in fresh pasta, our products can be eaten up to three years after
the date of packing.
Pastas Alimenticias Romero is the first Spanish company in it
is field to obtain the quality certification ISO 9001:2000
(AENOR) and the quality certification and the ISO 14000:1996.
The quality department, which is located in the modern laboratory
integrated in the factory and which is run by highly qualified
staff, supervises the implementation of the quality guidelines
of the company according to current regulations. Moreover, it
establishes the technical specifications both for raw materials
and finished products, and analyses different parameters in order
to validate or reject materials or products. Similarly, it controls
the processes of production and packing among others, taking into
account different records.
In 1994, the company received from the C.A.A.E
(The Aragonese Committee for Organic Agriculture) the official
certification to produce organic pasta.
